Third term, Fedriga: "Regions have asked the Government for further information"

“The third term was not supposed to be the protagonist of this Festival, but I went out and they only talked to me about this. The presidents have different sensitivities, but in my opinion it is an example of the ability to dialogue” within the Conference of the Regions. “We voted for a unitary document asking the government to do a more in-depth study on the issue of the limit of mandates”. This was said by the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and of the Conference of the Regions, Massimiliano Fedriga , during the 4th Festival of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces, at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice .
His statement is part of a heated debate on an issue that is shaking up the government majority, after yesterday the Council of Ministers challenged the law of the Autonomous Province of Trento that would make a third term possible for a president. In this case, the one to be re-elected to lead Trentino could be the Lega Nord's Maurizio Fugatti. Both Fratelli d'Italia and Forza Italia oppose the idea of opening up to a third term even in a special statute region, also appealing to the decision of the Constitutional Court that blocked a similar initiative in Campania.
